9 tips for period pain that will make your menstrual cycle much easier

  1. Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water won’t help with cramps, but it can help reduce bloating, which makes cramps worse. Always have a water bottle handy and add some mint or a few drops of lemon. Reduce salt consumption and avoid alcohol, as both can dehydrate the body.
  2. Eat healthy
Eating sweets like donuts, french fries, and other fried foods is not good for your well-being. Instead, eat a low-fat, high-fiber diet that contains nutrients like vitamins E, B1, B6, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, which can relieve muscle tension and inflammation. Whole grains, lentils, beans, leafy greens, fruits and nuts are the way to go.
  3. Avoid caffeine
Caffeine can make cramps worse. Therefore, make sure that you do not consume any caffeine in the form of coffee, soda, chocolate, energy drinks or tea before or during your period. Instead, try a small fruit and vegetable smoothie.
  4. Over-the-counter medications
Aspirin, ibuprofen, and other pain relievers can go a long way toward keeping you comfortable. So if you feel like nothing is helping, it won’t hurt to take an over-the-counter pain reliever.
  5. Use heating pads
Use warm, relaxing hot water bottles and electric heating pads. This is especially useful in the winter when you need all the extra warmth you can get.
  6. Relax with a sweat session
